About “A Painting for Haiti”

Like many others, the artist Lisa De Prudhoe was reduced to tears when she watched the plight of the surviving but broken people in Haiti following the devastating earthquake that destroyed the lives of so many.  Lisa wondered what she could do to help those desperate people to rebuild their lives.

Lisa is a successful Latin American artist whose parents are American and Panamanian.  She has lived and exhibited her work in various parts of the world but is currently living in the north west of England.  In order to help the homeless and orphaned children in Haiti Lisa has offered one of her large paintings to be raffled.  The painting, entitled ‘Space’s Vast Society’, is acrylic on canvas, measuring 60” x 48”, with a current value of £4,000.  She has asked her art dealer, Wendy J. Levy, to organise this fundraising event, titled “A Painting For Haiti”, and is delighted to be supporting UNICEF to whom all the money will be given to help the children who survived that life-shattering earthquake. From THURSDAY 18th FEBRUARY, the painting will be exhibited in the Didsbury Life offices at 212 Burton Road, West Didsbury, Manchester M20 2LW.

The raffle tickets cost only £5 or $10 each, thus allowing most people to be able to donate something to this vital cause and allowing more people and businesses to buy a number of raffle tickets thereby giving larger amounts to this worthwhile charity whilst simultaneously increasing their chances of winning a wonderful piece of art.

Wendy Levy said, “Our aim is, obviously, to raise as much money as we can, but we have our initial sights set on selling four thousand tickets so that we can send at least £20,000 to help the children in Haiti.  Many of our friends think we will sell many more tickets and raise way over £20,000.  It would be wonderful to do so and we hope everyone who reads about this will buy at least one raffle ticket.”  ALL the money raised will be sent to the charity – Lisa De Prudhoe is giving the painting totally and will not be taking any money from that which is raised, nor will anyone else. The Wendy J Levy Gallery will pay for the painting to be delivered to the lucky winner of the raffle wherever they happen to be in the world.

Wendy added, “All we ask is that all our friends buy a ticket and then tell their friends to buy a ticket and so on.  If all our friends promote this event on their websites and direct people to us through a simple link, and give the link to all their friends on various social and chat sites, then before we know it, with the help of the internet, we will reach our goal.”

  1. It is very generous of Lisa De Prudhoe to give this wonderful painting to raise funds to help the people in Haiti. As all the donations are going to Unicef I am sure there will be a big response.
